3 Nights Classic Bali

Destinations Covered
South Bali – Ubud – Candidasa – Lovina

Day 1 South Bali - Ubud (47km/8hrs, Including Sightseeing)

Depart from your hotel in South Bali at 9:00 hrs to Ubud, en-route visiting the village of Batubulan, which is famous for stone carving. You will have the opportunity to see a Barong and Kris dance show that describes the eternal struggle between good (Barong) and evil (Rangda), and which ends with a scene where the Kris dancers fall into a trance and try to kill Rangda. Proceed to Celuk, the centre of exquisite silver works, and Mas for its fine woodcarvings.

Next we'll reach Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali, which has many fine painting galleries, and is home to a score of local and foreign painters. On arrival, visit the Agung Rai Museum of Art. The museum has an extensive collection of permanent works by Balinese, Indonesian and foreign artists, in classic and contemporary Balinese styles. Afterwards, you can test your bargaining skills at the Ubud art market before visiting Puri Saren Agung, whose royal family ruled Ubud from the late 1800’s until 1917.

Later in the day, check-in at selected hotel.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2 Ubud - Candidasa (54km/8hrs, Including Sightseeing)

After breakfast, check-out and head east at 9:00 hrs to visit Kerta Gosa, or the Hall of Justice, built during the 18th Century in Klungkung. It is beautifully laid out within a moat, and provides an exquisite example of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture, as seen in their ceiling murals.

Continue on to Kusamba, a fishing village that also engages in salt-making. You’ll see colourful outriggers lined up along the black sand shores. The coastal road, with view clear to Nusa Penida, will lead us to Goa Lawah (Bat Cave). This cave, whose walls vibrate with thousands of bats, is considered holy, and a temple and surrounding shrines protect the entrance. Our last stop will be Tenganan, an original Balinese village and a stronghold of ancient traditions. You can see the local women weave the famous “flaming cloth”, kamben geringsing, which is said to immunize the wearer against evil.

Resume journey to Candidasa.

On arrival, check-in at selected hotel.

Candidasa is a seaside town in Eastern Bali that rests on the edge of a freshwater lagoon. It is a popular tourist stop, and is often described as a more sedate and laid-back beach area.

Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3 Candidasa - Lovina (139km/9hrs, Including Sightseeing)

Post breakfast, check-out and depart at 9:00 hrs for Lovina, en-route visiting Taman Tirta Gangga (Water Palace) whose swimming pools and ornamental ponds serve as a fascinating reminder of the Balinese rajah’s old days. Proceed Northwest with a stop in Putung to see the panoramic view over the Eastern bay.

Continue through spectacular views of terraced rice fields to Besakih Temple, located on the slope of Mount Agung, Bali’s highest volcano. It is called the Mother Temple of Bali as it houses ancestral shrines for all the Hindu Balinese, and encompasses a complex of nearly 24 temples. The next stop is Kintamani, which presents breath-taking views over the Caldera Lake, Danau Batur.

Descending towards the North coast, make a brief stop at the Temple Of Sangsit, and look around the former capital, Singaraja.

Resume journey to Lovina.

It is becoming more popular with tourists, but remains far quieter than the tourist hotspots on the island's South side. The area takes its name from a home owned by Pandji  Tisna (1908-1978). He was a Regent of Buleleng and pioneer of tourism to Bali in the early 1950's.

Overnight stay at the hotel.
